Urban Climate Intelligence
Climate-Aware City Planning
Powered by AVES Reality
AVES Reality provides the spatial foundation for urban climate intelligence by turning satellite and aerial imagery into high-fidelity, georeferenced 3D digital twins of real cities. On top of this accurate geometry, planners can analyse how streets, building canyons, plazas and open spaces influence heat, wind and comfort at the scale where people actually experience the city.
Together with infrared.city, AVES showcased this capability at Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona using a high-resolution digital twin of San Francisco built by AVES and connected to infrared.city’s AI-powered climate simulation engine. In this setup, planners could see real-time maps of wind flows, outdoor thermal comfort and heat-stress hotspots, compare present-day conditions with 2030–2050 climate projections, and instantly understand the impact of design moves such as new shading, trees or building configurations before anything is built.
For cities and partners, this combination turns AVES digital twins into a decision surface for climate-resilient design: a place where microclimate, comfort and risk become visible, quantifiable and easy to communicate. It supports evidence-based choices on where to prioritise cooling interventions, how to protect vulnerable areas and how to balance development with liveability, thus making AVES a core enabler of next-generation urban climate intelligence.
